Mongolia 2015
The Mongolian Quilting Center continued the work of teaching low income and unemployed women and making patchwork products to sell. They have increased their retail outlets in Ulaanbaatar and are constantly designing new products. In addition to silk scraps from the clothing industry, they have access to cashmere scraps and are utilizing these to make beautiful patchwork horses, goats and camels. They also made patchwork cashmere baby blankets for the needy babies born at the maternity hospital in Ulaanbaatar. Funds raised in the USA, both locally and nationally, amounted to $18,400 bringing the grand total to $200,400 since the project began in 2004.
